Hello All Good People!
I have created this blog as a place for me to post some of my meandering thoughts on medicinal, aromatic and healing plants, as well as reflecting on the relationships between plants and people I encounter around the world.
As I have just launched the Organo-Leptic.com website and I am anticipating on talking more in the press about both raw incense and raw chocolates (as featured in the website and my new book, The Incense Bible), I wanted to start the blog off with some suggestions on recipes for raw chocolates. You can enjoy raw chocolate bars by buying them from the Organo-leptic.com website, but if you happen to want to make your own raw chocolate confections from raw cocoa nibs (these are different than regular cocoa nibs), then you might try the recipes below. These were shared with permission from Ben Kamm of Sacred Succulents. Enjoy!
In Health,
Kerry
Raw fudge recipe:
1.5 cups nibs
1/3 cup raw coconut oil
1/8+ cup honey
Warm coconut oil until liquid and mix this thoroughly with nibs and honey. Place in fridge for 1 hr to resolidify, then run mixture through a Greenstar, Champion, or similar juicer with the blank plate in place. If it doesn’t get too runny, you can run it through twice to make it extra smooth. Then spread on wax paper in a shallow dish, and refrigerate for an hour or two to re-harden. Cut to desired size and enjoy. Vanilla or small amounts of medicinal herb powders can be added for something extra.
Another nameless energizing creation:
1 cup almond, peanut, or some other nut butter
1/3 cup nibs
1/8 cup Lycium fruit
1/8+ cup honey
4 Tbsp hulled hemp seed
2 Tbsp chia seed
2-4 Tbsp maca root or mesquite meal powder
Mix thoroughly in a bowl, shape into balls or squares, and dust lightly with maca/ mesquite powder if still sticky.

I found your blog while doing research on Madagascar. The recipes look fabulous!
I hope to go there to live at least half the year and help the women and children there in some way. My husband just passed away so I should be getting a small stipend that will allow me to have plenty to live on while there and have some left to help the environment/people.
This has been a life long dream. I do not know exactly what the best path would be. I thought about having classrooms in the US adopt schools in Madagascar and sell a cd video of the beautiful landscape with meditation music in the background. Schools here could benefit from such a fundraiser and the money and awareness could go a long way toward helping the animals, plants and people of the country.
Then I saw web sites about the botanicals/herbs that grow there and I thought maybe a person could take some formerly rainforest land and grow carniverous or herbal plants as an alternative to cattle grazing and burning.
Is there anything you could think of that might help with such a goal? I was thinking of growing hemp to make ecologically friendly shopping bags with a variety of bumper sticker type sayings with a picture of a lemur. Maybe under the picture have the saying, ‘Lemurs, the other primate.’
I guess what I am asking is what can I do to help and how could my assets best be used to help our planet? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I will check back with your blog very soon in hopes of learning more.
Blessings,
Amanda

Dear Amanda,
Thank you for your comment. You have some good thoughts and are passionate about helping the environment and people, and tht is wonderful! Raising awareness of the delicate and unique environment in Madagascar is certainly very helpful. People in Madagascar also need alternative income opportunities, and I am sure your idea of classrooms adopting schools is also a wonderful idea. Children really seem to connect with Madagascar because of the movie, and also the animated lemurs. Perhaps the first step might be for you to go on an exploratory tripl, if you have the resources, and it will all become clear to you.
If I can help you in any way, please let me know. And please keep us posted on your travel plans and progress!
Sincerely,
Kerry
