Asiaticosides-

Important Bioactive From Plants!

Asiaticosides are triterpenoid saponins, that feature a dammarane-type triterpene backbone with sugar moieties attached, contributing to their solubility and biological activity. Asiaticosides are primarily found in Centella asiatica (Gotu Kola), a well-known medicinal plant used in traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine. They have also been detected in smaller amounts in related species such as Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides and some members of the Araliaceae family.

Among its possible health benefits:
·     Wound Healing
·     Neruoprotection
·     Anti-inflammatory
·     Antioxidant
·     Vascular Health

A notable study published in recent years investigated the effects of asiaticosides on neurodegeneration in an Alzheimer’s disease model. The research demonstrated that asiaticoside supplementation significantly improved memory and cognitive function in mice, likely due to its ability to reduce amyloid-beta plaque accumulation and oxidative stress in the brain.
