High Quality Product = High Quality Starting Material 🌲 ✨

➡️ In the herbal world, we all nod our heads at one core principle: you can’t make a truly high‑quality product from low‑quality starting material. That’s just as true for sophisticated extracts as it is for simple teas.

What I love about this French Maritime Pine Bark story is that yannick piriou‘s team took that principle seriously enough to redesign the whole process around it.

✅ By insisting on pure, authenticated Pinus pinaster bark, and by removing the extra wood, cambium, and non‑bark material up front, they didn’t just “clean up” the supply chain. That decision enabled them to innovate.

Once the bark itself was truly high‑grade and well‑defined, they discovered they didn’t need a cocktail of organic solvents to reach premium levels of procyanidins. Water alone was enough. The clean label process was a consequence of starting clean.

➡️ In this clip, I’m revisiting that foundational idea: if we want safer, more sustainable, genuinely effective herbal products, we can’t bolt “clean label” on at the end. We have to commit to high‑quality, authentic starting material first…and let the process innovation flow from there.
