As SupplySide winds down and the expo floor ghosts itself for another year, it feels fitting that Halloween is right around the corner. To get into the spirit, I joined an intrepid crew of colleagues for a Horror Escape Room… and, happily, we escaped with our dignity intact.
Turns out, navigating cryptic locks and terrifying plot twists with a group is a lot like the botanical industry: there are puzzles to solve, hurdles to clear, and you absolutely need the right team to get out alive and still like each other at the end.
Sometimes someone has the right clue, sometimes they’re just screaming, and occasionally, you have to trust the person who swears they know “how this all connects.” Spoiler: that’s also called a scientist.
Just like business, breaking out of tricky situations means collaborating, delegating, and occasionally yelling “try the other key!” In the end, it’s the collective brainpower (and a bit of panic) that gets you to the finish line…whether it’s escaping a locked basement or launching a new ingredient to market.
SupplySide may be over, but the teamwork, laughter, and creative problem-solving go on…and thankfully, no zombies were harmed in the making of this year’s innovations.
