There may be plastic in your brain right now. πŸ€” πŸ₯€

A 2025 Nature Medicine study reported brain tissue containing the equivalent weight of a plastic spoon in microplastics…and possibly 50% more than in 2016.

The methodology has drawn scrutiny from other scientists, and the field is still working out the measurement standards. But the direction of the findings is hard to ignore.

What is less contested: microplastics (& their byproducts) have been detected in human blood, hearts, lungs, placentas, breast milk, and a newborn’s first stool.

We are estimated to inhale tens of thousands of particles every single day.

And the chemical byproducts that travel with plastics (BPA, phthalates, endocrine disruptors) have decades of peer-reviewed toxicology behind them.
