GLP-1 support products have been identified by industry analysts as a key trend hitting the dietary supplement and functional food markets.
It isn’t surprising when you consider that 12% of US adults have already been using GLP-1 pharmaceuticals. Despite dangerous overstepping on claims, the market has responded, and products are being launched to capitalize on this trend.
According to a webinar entitled “Nutraceutical Market Trends for 2025: Insights by PharmaLinea and Euromonitor”, GLP-1 supplement support products that are on the market can be categorized into 3 groups:
1. *GLP-1 User Support products* are trying to address symptoms / side effects of the GLP-1 pharmaceuticals, such as nutrition gaps, muscle loss, skin tone loss, digestive issues, low energy and bone density loss.
2. *“Natural” GLP-1 Boosters*- probiotics or other ingredients which are shown to increase GLP-1 preclinically.
3. *”Fauxzempic”*-those which help weight loss through other mechanisms that are not related to GLP-1.
As some of these supplements are offering themselves as “replacements” or mimicking pharmaceuticals, regulatory experts are expressing caution to the market.
