The Rainforest Lemon-

A small to medium sized rainforest tree from Australia, the Lemon Aspen (Rainforest Lemon; Acronychia acidula) produces small bright green fruits that have a grapefruit or lemon-like flavor which is popular as a wild food flavor for beverages, foods (sauces) and sweets.

In traditional Aboriginal medicine, the fruit and leaves of Lemon Aspen have been used for treating respiratory infections, digestive issues, and skin conditions due to their antimicrobial and astringent properties. Infusions have also been applied to wounds or taken internally as a general tonic. Its strong citrus aroma made it a favored plant for both flavor and healing.

As it has also been found to have a high antioxidant capacity, the Lemon Aspen is also being marketed for use in personal care and cosmetic products for its use in brightening, collagen support, dermatological inflammation, and hair repair products.

Through scientific investigation, it has also been found to exhibit antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory activities.

The Lemon Aspen has a dense crown and can be grown in area with mild frost, and requires pruning to maintain a bushy shape. It is tolerant of multiple soil types and flowers in summer and autumn with fruits coming soon after.

The leaves and fruit are explored for natural extracts in cosmetic formulations due to their aroma and bioactive compounds.
