Wild Cardamom!

Wild Cardamom!

Wild Cardamom (aka Longoza, Aframomum angustifolium) is a plant species that grows in tropical Africa and Madagascar. The plant’s crushed seeds are used as a peppery spice locally. The fruit is a berry containing many seeds, surrounded by sugary-sweet and sour edible pulp, much loved by children.

The local name of the plant is Longoza, which means “long hours” as the fruit is traditionally eaten by local communities to stay strong during long walks in the eastern forest hills.

According to a few studies, extracts of Wild Cardamom enhanced a number of anti-aging & skin health properties, including hydration, miotic activity, and tissue health. Additionally, it has interest in management of side effects with chemotherapy. The extract contains bioactives such as saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and phytosterols.
